What is Syncfony?
Syncfony is an easy way to backup the important information on your phone to your computer. Syncfony lets you organize your mobile phone's contacts and text messages. You can add new contacts to your phone and sync them directly over-the-air to your computer from anywhere. If you ever lose your phone you know that you'll have all the important data safely stored on your computer.
How does Syncfony work?
Syncfony lets you push the data from your phone to your computer and vice-versa over-the-air using the same cellular networks you are using to make phone calls. What Syncfony provides, technically speaking, is GPRS, EDGE, or 3G-based synchronization. Each time you sync we download your new text messages and newly added contacts from your phone to your computer. You don't have to be anywhere near your laptop or desktop. Next time you open up your Syncfony application on your computer and you hit the synchronization button we'll pull all the new contacts and text messages from your phone and save them to your computer. In the future, Syncfony users will be able to access their backed-up contacts and text messages online in the Syncfony cloud as well.
Do I need to download a Syncfony application to my phone?
No you don't need to download any applications to your phone. We use an already built-in protocol in your phone and our proprietary Syncfony server to do all the syncing without the need to download any applications to your phone and having to update them.
What do I need to use Syncfony?
All you need is your phone, your computer, and the Syncfony application you download to your computer. You can download the Syncfony application for free. You don't need to download anything to your phone. You don't need any cables, bluetooth or anything else. You simply use a synchronization feature already built-in your phone, configure Syncfony as a new synchronization service and start backing-up your data.
How do I activate Syncfony on my phone?
Since we work with the standard synchronization feature already built into most phones we can back up a vast pool of mobile phones including Nokia, Motorola, and SonyEricsson. All you need is to follow set-up instructions and set up Syncfony as your new synchronization service. For more details on how to configure your phone and activate Syncfony synchronization go to supported devices page. If you don't like to play with your phone too much ask a friend to help you. You'll be set to go in a couple of minutes.
Do I need to have a data plan to use Syncfony?
You don't have to have a data plan for Syncfony to work but you do need to have a data service activated on your phone. To check if it's activated you can either call your mobile carrier or simply check if common web pages can be browsed in your phone's web browser. We recommend you check this before you start configuring the Syncfony service on your phone.
How much does Syncfony cost?
The Syncfony basic version is free. The free version provides all the functionality important to you. With Syncfony you can back up both your contacts and text messages safely to your computer free of charge.
What other information from my phone can I back up?
For now you can back up data that is most important to you - your contacts and your text messages. In the later versions of the product you'll be able to backup and synchronize additional data types.
How do I manage the contacts on my phone?
You can either manage them on your phone as you are used to or you can manage the phonebook via your computer. Syncfony automatically backs up your phonebook into your Mac Address Book. There are two ways to do it. During the set up process you can create a separate "phone" group of contacts in your Address Book and back up your phonebook to it or you can choose "all" in the Syncfony Preferences and merge all your contacts. If you create a separate "phone" group, Syncfony backs up your contacts to that group and allows you to add new contacts to it manually. If you choose "all" the next time you sync Syncfony will push your entire Address Book to your phone automatically.
How do I add contacts from my Mac Address book to my phone?
If you want to add more contacts to your phone from your computer you simply copy the new contacts you want to add to your "phone" group and sync.
Is Syncfony secure?
Of course, security is key when dealing with data. We use the same encryption and security standards that banks do for transferring data and even added a password protection option to your application.
What if I have more than one phone that I want to sync?
Initially you can only sync one phone to your computer. However, in the next versions we will add functionality that will allow you to sync to more phones.
How do I transfer contacts to my new phone?
If you see the new device on your supported device list you are all set and can transfer your contacts to your new phone. Even if you don't see your device on our list check in with us as we keep adding new phones constantly. If your phone's model number is close to the phones we already support chances are Syncfony will work on it as well.
What happens after my free trial expires?
When your trial expires and you choose not to purchase the Syncfony service you will still be able to use the Syncfony application on your computer and keep all the SMS messages and phonebook contacts you have saved via our syncing service during the trial period.
